Riverford have vegan, vegetarian and omnivore options, seperated into simple or more elaborate recipes, designed to match whatever you’re after. We got one simple vegan which took 30 minutes, and one foodie vegan which took 60 minutes. I would usually turn my nose up at spending 60 entire minutes in the kitchen, but me and Danny cooked that one together and it was actually a really nice activity to do as a couple – look at Riverford, bringing us closer together! I’m only being semi-sarcastic, it was honestly really fun.

Formerly a temporary pop-up vendor in Trinity Kitchen, Wanderer Junk have been serving up seitan burgers & loaded fries to the grateful citizens of Leeds since the start of summer. I think I speak on behalf of literally every Leeds vegan when I say we were all dreading the day their residency would end and we would be left trekking to Kirkstall for MOG’s once more. However, in September, they saved all our asses and announced they had taken over the Chapel of Church, which is right next to the Leeds Uni campus. God. Bless. These. Guys.

I’ve had many an adventure in this place. When I was 7 months pregnant, I ordered a virgin strawberry mojito and they brought a definitely-not-virgin-and-actually-very-alcoholic one to the table and I “accidentally” sipped too much of it before sending it back because when you’ve gone that long without alcohol you need to take what you can get. We also came here about ten minutes after Danny proposed to me. He proposed, I said yes, we got very excited and contemplated finally going to a fancy restaurant and ordering champagne, and then we saw the Common Room and said fuck it, let’s get a kebab.

the self-proclaimed “ultimate food discovery experience” is an app you can download onto your smartphone, so that you can take a food tour completely independently, at your own pace, and even pause it and go back to it the next day if you fancy. the idea behind the app is that you pay 25-30€ to download a tour, which includes 5 or 6 restaurants/bars/cafes to ‘claim a bite’ at, and 12 ‘hidden gem’ tourist spots along the way, with information on the app about them all so that you can educate yourselves at your own pace with all the flexibility you desire.

I fucking love Indian food. I love it so much that I had to tell myself I couldn’t get any in Barcelona, and I should branch out a bit more instead. What actually happened is I ate this thali and became like a vampire who had just got a taste of blood, and then I ended up eating 8 samosas during the rest of the three days we were there. It’s a sickness, okay. I am weak.
