Riverford have vegan, vegetarian and omnivore options, seperated into simple or more elaborate recipes, designed to match whatever you’re after. We got one simple vegan which took 30 minutes, and one foodie vegan which took 60 minutes. I would usually turn my nose up at spending 60 entire minutes in the kitchen, but me and Danny cooked that one together and it was actually a really nice activity to do as a couple – look at Riverford, bringing us closer together! I’m only being semi-sarcastic, it was honestly really fun.

So, in your monthly box, you get 2 gins and 2 tonics that perfectly complement the gin, which makes 4 G&T’s in total (or 2 big ones if you’re me). I love that they match the mixer to the gin for you, because as mentioned before, I love trying new brands but I’m never sure which tonic flavour would accompany each gin the best.

The box also comes with a little recipe booklet, complete with the backstory of each bottle, and what the perfect serve/garnish is. Nothing too fancy – all I was advised to garnish with this month was grapefruit peel, fresh mint, a lime wedge, or orange peel. We usually have some kind of citrus fruit in the house anyway so with garnishes I tend to just go with what we’ve got rather than buying things especially for my drinks.

Formerly a temporary pop-up vendor in Trinity Kitchen, Wanderer Junk have been serving up seitan burgers & loaded fries to the grateful citizens of Leeds since the start of summer. I think I speak on behalf of literally every Leeds vegan when I say we were all dreading the day their residency would end and we would be left trekking to Kirkstall for MOG’s once more. However, in September, they saved all our asses and announced they had taken over the Chapel of Church, which is right next to the Leeds Uni campus. God. Bless. These. Guys.

Last week, I got invited to my first bloggers event, and in true Yasmin style, it was for the launch of a Gin Club, which meant I got to spend my evening drinking gin & tonic and making new pals at a fancy casino. Blogging is the actual dream, isn’t it?

I’ve had many an adventure in this place. When I was 7 months pregnant, I ordered a virgin strawberry mojito and they brought a definitely-not-virgin-and-actually-very-alcoholic one to the table and I “accidentally” sipped too much of it before sending it back because when you’ve gone that long without alcohol you need to take what you can get. We also came here about ten minutes after Danny proposed to me. He proposed, I said yes, we got very excited and contemplated finally going to a fancy restaurant and ordering champagne, and then we saw the Common Room and said fuck it, let’s get a kebab.
